Pumpkin Day!

This week we finished our week off with Pumpkin Day! Most of us wore orange in celebration of inspecting the inside of a pumpkin! The squirmy faces were priceless when we not only smelled the pumpkin, but touched the pulp and seeds in the inside! "Gross!" "So slimey!"

We separated the seeds and then estimated how many seeds the pumpkin had. Our estimations varied from 22-500.

After counting the seeds, our class pumpkin had 96 seeds! Some of our estimations were close...

After counting, we boiled the seeds in salt water, rinsed them, then put them in the oven for 12 minutes.

Most of us got to try pumpkin seeds for the first time! They were delicious!

"Tastes kind of like popcorn!"

"Mmmmm...!! I love pumpkin seeds!"

After 3 handfuls... "Can I please have more!?"

If you would like to try our same recipie at home, here is the one we followed! Very simple to make and delicious when they are cooked!

Of course, no themed day goes without a class picture!

For those of you that are carving pumpkins this weekend,

HAPPY CARVING! :)
