Don't Squeal Unless It's A Big Deal!

Today we read a book called 'Don't Squeal Unless It's a Big Deal'. It's a story about a class that was full of Tattletales. The teacher got tired of hearing the tattling all day that she made a new class rule: "Don't Squeal Unless It's a Big Deal". To squeal means that you tell a grown-up when someone does or says something you don't like, instead of telling that person first. Most of these problems are 'kid-sized problems' where they can work it out themselves. BUT, sometimes there are problems that are a BIG DEAL. A Big Deal is an emergency-- you definitely need to tell an adult!

Today we role-played different scenarios and discussed if it was a Kid-Sized Problem or a Big Deal. They all understood the differences but we will still be practicing and discussing this throughout the year.

Don't forget:

DON'T SQUEAL UNLESS IT'S A BIG DEAL!
